Surf Life Saving New Zealand - Auckland Marine Rescue Centre
Each year, Surf Life Saving New Zealand leads beach and coastal safety across Aotearoa, patrolling over 90 locations. If you’re ready to make a real difference, this is your chance to help save lives and protect our coastlines.
Behind every operation there is a dedicated communications team helping support lifesaving services nationwide.
SurfCom is Surf Life Saving New Zealand's national communications and dispatch service, providing operational support to surf lifeguards and emergency response partners across the country. Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, SurfCom is based alongside Coastguard New Zealand within the Auckland Marine Rescue Centre.

SurfCom Operator
Operators work on a rostered shift basis, which may include weekends, evenings, public holidays and on-call duties.

What You'll Do
Life as a SurfCom Operator is fast-paced, rewarding, and plays a vital role in supporting lifesaving operations across Aotearoa.
You will:
Support surf lifesaving operations and emergency responses nationwide
Communicate with lifeguards, SLSNZ staff, emergency services and partner agencies
Monitor operational information and coordinate resources when required
Work as part of a dedicated team helping keep New Zealand's beaches safe
From routine patrol support to major incidents, you'll be part of a close-knit team making a real impact behind the scenes.
